Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is unfairly burdened going into this, his third feature film. Firstly, he is Spanish, and for many that already elevates the quality expectancy of his horror output to a higher than average plateau (Tesis (1996), The Orphanage (2007), The Devil's Backbone (2001) et al). Secondly, he has made the near fatal error of already creating a film (Intacto (2001), his very first feature) of such mind contorting quality that all else he produces surely falls to its shadow...
