Madman Entertainment (NZ) and The Hell Street Journal offer up this month a chance to enter into the sparse and yet jarringly evocative world of serial killing cabbie, Bob (Vincent D'Onofrio). A slow burning study in obsessive control you will be at once drawn in and repulsed by the microcosm that director Jennifer Lynch and her tiny cache of actors create here in such exacting detail.
Everything from lingering, floating, and very much Lynchian, explorations of the windowless hellhole within which the majority of the film unwinds, to the strange and teetering voice inflections of the narratives hulking protagonist, are painted here with subliminally chilling effect.
