It was always going to be risky. Would audiences ever be able to see this actress as anything other than ‘that kick-ass girl with the pointy wooden stake’. Images stored away from watching seven seasons of her coaxing demons to spontaneously combust can have a tendency to linger. 

Stereotypes were formed and icons fashioned here by a fan base that rabidly redefined dedication. But there is only so much time that an actress can convincingly remain trapped in her teenage years. The scripts too were noticeably beginning to lack in their once razor sharp appeal – it was definitely time to move on...
